We are all busy, but slow living is on the rise. In a world where we tend to always run on, it is actually good to slow down a bit more often. Whisky brand The Singleton therefore encourages you to slow down, consciously live in the moment and connect with others. Here are five ways to find more relaxation in your daily life:
- Take time for real conversations
Don't plan too many appointments in a day and really take time for each other. Put your phone on silent or leave it at home to avoid distractions. This way, you can be fully present and really listen to your interlocutor. - Get carried away by music
Take the time to really listen to an album, without doing anything else. Sit down, close your eyes and let the music take you. It is a perfect way to quiet your mind and become totally absorbed in the moment. You can do this at home on your own, of course, or together with like-minded people. For example at Bar CUE in Amsterdam, founded on the mission to connect people. While listening to vinyls here, you can enjoy culinary delights created by Michelin chef George and sommelier Mo. Then immediately try one of The Singleton cocktails that will be on the menu from this month. - Create personal rituals
Make small habits, like your morning coffee or an evening walk, a conscious ritual. This helps bring peace into your day. Need inspiration? The book Atomic Habits by James Clear shows how to create lasting peace with small changes. - Make time for creativity
Paint, write, cook or try something new like pottery. Being creative releases your thoughts and provides relaxation. You don't have to be perfect; the process is what matters. - Consciously enjoy flavours
Eat and drink with attention. Savour the rich flavours of a carefully crafted cocktail with The Singleton whisky. Invite friends over and create an evening of enjoyment and connection.
In short, slow living is all about consciously choosing to rest and pay attention. Nice and relaxed enjoyment, for example of this tasty cocktail...
