US-based Tiffany & Co. -you know: gifts for ladies, in blue box with white bow-tie- is going to focus more explicitly on men, launching the Tiffany Men's collection. An explanation from the man behind the design, Reed Krakoff.<\/strong>Tiffany & Co. already had a men's line. How do you reinvent it?<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The collection is different in several ways. It is a lifestyle collection based on jewellery, but also extends to travel, leather goods, bar supplies, games and much more.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We really try to create a complete world for Tiffany men. Of course, we continue to offer the classic jewellery we are known for, like cufflinks, money clips or I.D. bracelets. But this is really a different take on it, younger in spirit and more modern. At its core inspired by the classic style of Tiffany, but mention.<\/p>\n

In what way has Tiffany's heritage influenced the collection?<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Many people don't know this, but Tiffany actually set the standard for sterling silver, so the idea of making jewellery in sterling silver is something ingrained in our history. As such, this metal is dominant in the collection.Set of pool balls in wooden triangle. On the international Tiffany site for around $ 1500.<\/em>In addition, there are many modern interpretations of iconic styles that Tiffany has offered for many years - the I.D. bracelet, the signet ring, the tie bar. These have been reimagined and redesigned. It's a combination of material, silhouette and style. But we now also have the tumbled finish. That's a new way of treating sterling silver, to give it a softer glow, so it looks and feels like something you've always had, even if you've just bought it in one of our shops.Which pieces took the longest to make?<\/em><\/p>\n

One of the most complex pieces in the collection is the sterling silver chessboard. The idea was to take an everyday material, such as corrugated cardboard, and then make an interpretation on it for chessboard and pieces in sterling silver, gold-plated or not. Each piece was made by sandwiching two pieces of sterling silver with a corrugated centre and then mounting it on a corrugated flat sterling silver disc. One at a time, by hand. The plate itself is an inlay of gold-vermeil and sterling silver. All in all, a labour-intensive process that took almost a year.<\/p>\n

Which styles from the jewellery collection do you think are perfect to wear as statement pieces?<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Can't say. That idea of a statement piece is mostly a personal concept. The collection ranges from small signet rings to big, chunky necklaces in gold and silver. It is really about the wearer, how they choose to express themselves and wear something in a way that is meaningful and personal to them.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
