You won't come across this watch from A. Lange & Söhne 1 in the wild anytime soon. Extra reason to enjoy these photos....
A Long 1 equipped with Perpetual Calendar has been around since 2012. But that one also had a Tourbillon on board. In this new Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar, it functions as a standalone complication. And so a distinctive face had to be designed, one that honours the Lange 1 collection's typical asymmetrical DNA.
ASYMMETRIC
The solution was found in details, such as 'at 7 o'clock'. Here you will find the combination of a moon phase display with a day/night indicator consists of two layers. First, a solid gold sky disk, part light, part dark blue. This makes a full rotation on its own axis every 24 hours. Against this changing background, the moon -in white or rose gold- performs its orbit in 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and three seconds. This is so precise that it takes 122.6 years for a one-day correction to be needed. To signify the difference between day and night, the moon appears against a monochrome light blue background during the day and a dark blue starry sky at night. Other striking details in this handsome design: the large date, a retrograde weekday indicator and a ring with the month around the circumference of the dial. Internally, an automatic movement with a winding rotor in gold and platinum ticks, a power reserve of 50 hours and a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour.
