Breitling announces the launch of the Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown, the third watch to be launched in partnership with Outerknown, the sustainable clothing brand co-founded by surf legend Kelly Slater, has been created. With its bronze-coloured dial and Outerknown Econyl yarn NATO watch strap, this modern retro underwater watch expresses the cool, laid-back lifestyle from the surf scene of Southern California and Hawaii in the 1950s and 1960s. It is available with a classic stainless steel watch case or as a limited edition model with an 18-carat red gold bezel for anyone looking to take an even bigger plunge.
PASSION
Breitling with Outerknown share their passion for clean oceans and beaches. And who doesn't? Common goal is to contribute to the maintenance and protection of a healthy, safe environment that is reflected in the Outerknown NATO watch straps, made from Econyl yarn, derived from recycled nylon waste. At the same time, the retro design of the watch is reminiscent of the culture of Southern California and Hawaii from the 50s and 60s. These iconic decades evoke memories through the fantastic music, the often legendary cars and the almost spiritual experience of freedom on the endless sandy beaches when waiting for the perfect wave.
SURFER OF ALL TIME
Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, explains, "We are excited to build on our strong partnership with Kelly and everyone else at Outerknown. Our joint projects go beyond producing watches. They underline Breitling's commitment to sustainability. And of course we are also thrilled to commit to the cool surf lifestyle and is very special that we get to work with the greatest surfer of all time! "
Kelly Slater agrees: "Georges and his team at Breitling have shown that they have the same passion for clean oceans and beaches as we do. Creating watches with Econyl yarn straps is a wonderful message and our contribution to a better environment, while developing products at the same time."
CALIBER 10
The Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown comes in two versions: one in steel and the other - with a limited edition of 500 copies - in steel with 18-carat red gold bezel. With its arrow-shaped hands, extra-large numerals and concave bezel, it is clear that the watches are inspired by the original 1957 SuperOcean. The Outerknown logo is engraved on the back of the watch case. Both versions are powered by Breitling Calibre 10 with a power reserve of around 42 hours. Like all Breitling watches, they are COSC-certified chronometers, an independent guarantee of their precision and performance.
IDEAL DIVING WATCH
The stainless steel version has a modern retro look with bronze-coloured dial. The dial is combined with a brown Outerknown strap. The concave, bi-directional stainless steel bezel has an ultra-hard scratch- and shock-resistant black ceramic bezel ring, with a luminous central dot at 12 o'clock, ideal as a dive watch. The model also comes with a bronze dial and 18-carat red gold bezel. This model is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces.
Breitling's Outerknown watchband collection was launched in 2019. The watch bands have a fresh, vibrant and colourful look and feel and can be combined with all Breitling watches, even though they were created in collaboration with Outerknown, specifically for the Breitling SuperOcean collection. They not only contribute to the design codes of watches like the Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown, but also support Breitling's commitment to sustainability. Econyl yarn is produced from recycled nylon waste, including from discarded or lost fishing nets. The watch straps are not only recycled but also completely recyclable.
