As far as we are concerned, this restaurant has one of the most beautiful names in Amsterdam. And you get great seating too!
In the middle of the city and yet that lovely outdoor feeling, with plenty of light, space and water all around you. Ode aan de Amstel is in a beautiful location, right on - you guessed it - the Amstel. When the weather is fine and the temperature is nice, you can sit outside, just barely with your feet in the water, while countless sloops and supboards pass by.
French-Asian
Once the first rays of sunshine start to show from around 11 o'clock, the kitchen also gets into action. Guests can enjoy an all-day dining menu featuring French-inspired classics, infused with an exciting but equally subtle Asian twist. The beach crab soup, for example, is accompanied by a red curry, and several skewers including corn chicken and spicy tofu from the Japanese Konro Grill pass by.
Oysters á la Thai
The oysters are served Thai style, among others, and the scallops marinated with soy sauce and topped with a foam of passion fruit. There is also a different special on the menu every day. For those who prefer to go for an elaborate experience, there is the three- to five-course Chef's menu full of surprises. It never gets boring or predictable, as the kitchen regularly plays with the composition and order of the dishes. Of course, you can also visit throughout the day for a cup of coffee, a good Negroni Beertail or a Blanc de Noir Spatbutgunder, among other things. At Ode aan de Amstel, they have a slight preference for fine beers, so there is a real beer sommelier walking around - one of the few female beer sommeliers in Europe - who puts the most fun combinations on the table. The restaurant even has its own special beer, Eau de Blond.
Always cosy
Ode aan de Amstel has two floors connected by an eye-catcher of a staircase, which stands right in the middle of the space. Downstairs is the restaurant area with that beautiful view over the Amstel river and sliding doors that open up provide the ultimate summer feeling when the weather is nice. Next to it is a private room where you can meet or dine with a group of 12 to 14 people at a nice round table. Are you curious to see how the chef prepares your dish? Then book a table at the breakfast bar so you can admire the chef's expertise up close. The upper floor is designed to be ideal to rent for meetings, private dinners or other events. This room has its own bar, beautiful views of the water and large windows that can be opened and provide a nice summer breeze on hot days. The ground floor can accommodate 60 guests, the terrace 80 and the upper floor can accommodate 80 seated and 120 standing guests. The interior consists of warm tones combined with industrial materials such as steel. White marble tables add an elegant yet understated touch.
